there is still not complete equality (women are still paid less, there is still the expectation women should be the one to take care of the household, and many people tell me I will never be married because I value my own last name and don’t see the point of changing it to a mans when I get married)...
BUTTT I feel that equality will NOT be reached by giving women SPECIAL privileges... this is not equality... equality is looking at each person for who they are as A PERSON... not as a woman or man... I was completely appalled when Hillary said vote for me because I am a woman... this is NOT equality, and shows she completely misses the point of feminism... this is saying I am better because I'm a woman which does not make her better or worse... that should not be the issue what so ever... Obama can not say vote for me because I am black...
Too often feminism is blurred and does not push for equality any more but for special rights as women... I am completely feminist, BUT many women who claim to be feminists only want the benefits of feminism... and equality for women means equal treatment in all areas, both positive and negative
We're doing stuff about sexism etc. in religion so our teacher is conducting like a, battle of the sexes for want of a better phrase. She's asking all of the other teachers whether they think girls or boys are better at the subjects they teach. We're doing a fitness test thing too to test each sexes physical strength. I'll get back to you with the results but I'm sure it will an interesting experience.
I agree with five ft although I wouldnt call myself a feminist but I definitely admire those that are
Also there really isnt any point in changing ur last name U can just add your husband or wife's last name to your name if its that important
you should read "The Demon Lover:Sexuality of Terrorism" , as far as the traditional masculine tactic of assuming the form of the Anti-Life Ghostmaker goes , the book shows how this what you might call a survival mechanism gone awry in becoming endless blood vendettas and fear-mongering worldwide Perpetuating the need for means of assuming this "omnipotent"(howling sarcasm) personnae economically as well, the international hatfield vs.mccoy phenomenon continually feeding itself in harm and the need to impact more harm on the other "Them", the wicked left-handed ones.
I forget her name but she was on the frontlines as she quotes, having some experience with the Weather Underground......
Not to claim this shit as canonized dogmatic, but read it .....I read it years ago it's still with me now...
I don't fuck around though because that's what my world calls for , if it's you or me it's you, and if it's got to e like that you better be prepared to take me out of commission, for good, because i don't make a smooth fucking transition.......
Ahhhhh, good old gender bias. I have not talked about this one in a great while, but, why not?
It is my own personal belief that discrimination over ones sex is as non existent as it will ever be.
As far as real, constitutional rights and laws, I don't see how anyone can say there is still such as great gap to bridge between treatment of men and women. Employment, education, access to places of gathering, political and legal seats, all open for the taking by either or.
Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that shits all "honky dory" in every way, shape, or form. There is still a lot of horrible and unfair things that happen daily, both nationally and globally. My point is, as far as fair treatment by the way of things that can be voted on or protested about, womens rights are equal.Yet there is still, and probably forever will be, an "I'm better then you because..." outlook. If for nothing else then the elitist nature of the majority of people in todays society, they will consciously strive to identify anything they deem"inferior", then throw it in your face to validate their own position. And thats now becoming a matter of a personal opinion being expressed by someone who is probably highly critical of all genders, races, or cultures that are different then his/hers.No longer making it a gender bias, but an ignorant outlook on life and stain on what I feel is MAJOR improvements in equality amongst men and women, black and whites, ect. Just look at your possible Democratic nominee for president. Thats gotta say something don't you think?
