I read in a newspaper today about some school in America where a group of teenage girls made a pact to get pregnant and raise their babies together. Apparently, they came up with this idea after watching the film "Juno". I couldn't believe that these girls were influenced so much by a film. Also, I just found out that one of my best friends is pregnant at 16 and it really made me think about how the new generation are getting pregnant younger.
So, what are everyone's thoughts on teenage pregnancy?

My thoughts..for me is pregnancy right when you can care for urself and raise a family, not like a teenager.ur parents will not help u by that. (well some will but still..stupid idea..)
It's an awesome feeling to have a baby..but come on..u have a whole life behold you, when you have a baby it's not the same anymore. So people, be smart and use..condoms. =P

Someone my girlfriend went to school with is pregnant, she's 18, and she's keeping the baby because she didn't realise she was pregnant until she was 7 months along and it's too late to have an abortion. 7 months! How stupid can you be?

Well some people don't put on weight or anything, so it's possible that she generally didn't know. My friend that I mentioned above ^, has to keep her baby because abortion is illegal in my country. But she told us that it's her own fault for getting pregnant so she has to deal with it.

I do know people and friends that are pregnant or have a baby or whatever, and I do think it's stupid, but then again if it's a friend there's that concern. Uh, I've seen that movie but it doesn't want to make me go out and have a baby! People are so stupid! I wish we could rid the world of stupid people, but sadly we can't. I think that if it is actually your fault for getting pregnant then you should deal with that, why should we pity you or whatever because Oh no now you regret what you did?

Teen Pregnancy is just stupid on so many levels. Before I go and rant on and on about how these girls know nothing of life, can not support themselves let alone a child and how stupid they were to be influenced by a movie, I must say something before that. Any one who tries to pin these girl's, well lets just call it a dumb ass plan, on the movie Juno, should be shot on site. It's not the movie's fault that people are stupid enough to go and plan a group teen pregnancy. Now onto the girls. Did they not have the brain capacity to think that maybe since they do not live alone that they don't exactly have the financial resources to actually provide for another human being? Did they not take the time to consider the pain of child birth? Did they not consider how very pissed off their parents would be? At the very least, they should have known that they would be looked down upon by many many of their peers, and thousands of bloggers, forum posters, internet site makers and just about everything that breathes and thinks in at least America. I have no sympathy for these, immensely stupid girls.

well if you think about it, 100 years ago women at that age were having babies as well, though i think that these girls should really think it through and make sure it's what they want. But i think it's their decision, If they feel they can do it then go for it. I know everyone here is all stupid stupid stupid, but with the right support system it can be done, my cousin is in college with 5 kids and she's doing fine. Its all a matter of the person in question, the maturity level and finances available to them.

Congratulations on a rational, sensible reply - it is wrong to just blindly label people stupid. & the question wasn't actually about these girls in particular - it was on teen pregnacy in general & as you rightly point out it very much depends on the individual & their circumstances. There are plenty of adults you could call stupid & say should never have had children. You can't just condemn everybody like all pregnant teens - that's doing the exact opposite of what people here are supposed to stand for :)

Having a baby is one of the greatest joys in life, if you're ready for it. It's a HUGE resposibility, it's not like raiseing a puppy. It's very expensive & a major hassel if you're not ready for it. A baby is the next chapter in the saga of your blood & you owe it to your child to give him or her the most of your time that you possibly can. The world can be a fucked (hello!) up place for someone to grow up in, without a loveing parent to be there for them. I think teens should be out haveing fun & not be burdened with the responsibility of raiseing a baby but, hey.... if it's something a teen is truly serious about doing, who the fuck am I to critisize? It's not your parents responsibility to raise your baby (they already raised you) & it takes a SELFISH, SPOILED BRAT to sluff a baby off on their parents. If you get yourself knocked up too young, there's always abortion but, that's a tuff decision too. Realisticaly, nobody is ever ready to stop haveing fun & raise a kid but, if you think you're ready it can (as I said before) be an amazeing & beautiful thing. Just don't be an asshole parent & ignore your duty, cuz you're too busy partying, getting fucked (which is what started the whole mess to start with) & only careing about your own selfish ass, your kid will end up hateing you & rightfully so!

The world is a fucked up place. I think a main reason is becuase the lack of attention provided by the parent(s). The poor kid grows up on watching TV and learning from other kids in the same situation. 100 yrs ago the kid grew up on a farm and worked the farm to put food on the table. Today, they watch Teletubbies and the parents are away most of the day. When the film Juno was made, I predicted this would happen. Everything is cool until the kid is born. That's when this fucked up place will kick the teenagers in the teeth. Wait until there baby becomes a teenager. Will mom, think its cool to have a kid at 14yrs????? Yea, keep telling yourself everything is fine. Check back when the kids become teenagers and can speak for themselves. I was born with with adult parents and have issues.

Well, Juno I still can't believe is a comedy, though it is funny and a pretty good movie, has a good story to it. But, being inspired that much by a form of entertainment is not always good. If someone told you to jump off a bridge, would you do it? And this pact situation, it goes back and forth. Some girls say it was intentional while others say it was a coincedence. But seriously, before getting pregnant at such a young age......it's not a puppy you're taking care of or a goldfish...it's a f'in human.
