OTEP - THE LEGION

I read in a newspaper today about some school in America where a group of teenage girls made a pact to get pregnant and raise their babies together. Apparently, they came up with this idea after watching the film "Juno". I couldn't believe that these girls were influenced so much by a film. Also, I just found out that one of my best friends is pregnant at 16 and it really made me think about how the new generation are getting pregnant younger.
So, what are everyone's thoughts on teenage pregnancy?

i think that teen pregnancy is a big risk and young girls dont always understand what they are getting themselves into it will honestly change your life and sometimes its not always for the best girls dont always understand how much they are giving up by getting pregnant at such a young age and how hard it will be a child raising a child can end up with ugly results but not always i have a friend she is 16 had her kid a few months ago and she enjoys being a mom at such a young age and she is home schooling herself so she can be with her baby during the day but you also have to take into consideration her parents are a big help they are very supportive of her in everything but some girls are not so lucky they are looked down upon and have it very hard so its really a contriversal matter

Whatever happened to having children when your financially set and mature enough?

when was that ever the case? in the past, women just had to hide themselves and "despose of the evidence". not to mention the hundreds of women who have lost their lives, or come close to, to get an abortion illegally from someone who may or may not (have) know(n) what they are/were doing. and why? because society has placed upon them a stigma for even getting pregnant...for opening their legs, even though sex is a natural part of life. society has made people desperate and crippled them in so many different ways and instances.
furthermore, our population has been doubling every hundred years or so, with an exponential increase (kind of like interest) since the agricultural revolution. which shows you that it isn't a new fad...people have babies...and more teens have babies than any other age group..it has always been so, in most societies. so please, just try to be more informed before you start judging others and hate-mongering.

PLEASE READ - TRY AND MAKE IT TO THE END.

I commented earlier in this thread on what I thought was one of the few sensible reasoned posts – to deaf ears as usual.

Now I feel the need to do so again in support of fern.

A few people, the most sensible and reasoned being AngelOfBetrayal have mentioned going back a 100 years and teen pregnancy wasn’t so unusual then. Even this leaves aside the fact that for vast swathes of the human population today it is still normal.

Has anyone even paused to think, why can teenagers get pregnant if it is so bad and they are so incapable of looking after children? Indeed if teenagers are so incapable the laws of evolution say the ability to do so should have become extinct!

Or are you saying teenagers today aren’t as capable as those of the past? Well that’s devolution, that’s saying we’ve stopped evolving and are going backwards towards extinction. Since we are talking about attitudes espoused by the predominantly white affluent western world that may well be the case, extinction could be just around the corner.

Do any of you who go on about how stupid teenagers who get pregnant are, you who are so deriding and angry in your comments realise that you are showing how well indoctrinated you are with the morals and views of the society you call decayed and corrupt and totally useless elsewhere?

Most of you have derided and treated with scorn the notion of parents and other family members helping in the raising of the children born to these teenagers as though it’s unnatural and everyone should be bringing up their children in isolation. People say wait until you own a house, are wealthier, older, that that is the way to do it.

Now we start getting to the fundamental problem here. All that you have done is show how our vaunted civilisation has totally destroyed the way human society evolved to work. In your ignorance you have espoused all that is wrong, corrupt, soul destroying, and alienating of human spirit in our society.

Humans are a social species, evolved over 200,000 years to work together in large extended families, in tribes. First as hunter gatherers, leaving little footprint on the planet, living essentially as an integrated part of the system, then about 10,000 years ago the Neolithic Revolution brought about the start of the Human Era. Agriculture, excess food, this enabled free time, time to think and we were off on the path to civilisation. Essentially though, all remained good and well despite the growth of civilisation. People in the main remained in small agricultural groupings, that in their village structure still reflected the way of life of the tribes.

This is the essence of humanity, the tribe, an extended family working, living, loving together. Supporting each other, sharing, where there was a place for the youngest to the oldest, where you weren’t left to raise your children on your own. Instead of our dysfunctional alienating “civilised” world, where inexperienced adults can’t even manage to raise a child. You had a world where the whole tribe shared in the raising of the children and their welfare. This system survived by and large through the village structures in which the vast majority of the populations of the west lived, until that fateful event.

The Industrial Revolution, that steamroller, which as it gained momentum smashed out of all existence the last vestiges of the Tribe... leaving in its place? The cold bitter unfeeling inhuman Protestant work ethic that was to underpin the whole rise of capitalism and make sacred the laws of continual growth & consumption and despise and disparage any notion of harmony and balance. To what result? .....continued....

continued from before

We are left with a society so warped and twisted, so dysfunctional that we are eating ourselves, family structures are shattered, no one will lend a hand to another, and crazed demonic preachers regale their flocks with sermons of hatred. Corrupt politicians and bureaucrats hand in glove with soulless multinationals consume the planet in blind disregard for its pending doom.

And the citizens of this society, us, what do we do? Nothing of course, in the main people have been so traumatised, brainwashed and alienated that they can barely function on a day to day basis. They reflect the society as a whole; they turn on one another with fear and hatred, destroy that which is different, and rend that which they do not understand. In ever increasing seas of blood the western world will drown & all too likely in its death throes take the rest of humanity with it.

So you Shadow Soldiers who so often talk the talk on here but so conspicuously fail to walk the walk better really start to believe in what Otep is saying about revolution, you had better really start thinking about your attitudes and how programmed you are and in truth really more part of the problem than the solution. Throw of the shackles and open your minds and see the big picture, stop looking at only tiny bits of it. In reality you are only doing what your masters want, being distracted by the trivial, taking your eyes off the ball.

Otep forever - Shadow Soldiers 4 life - Long live the Revolution.

that's right. all you negative creeps have nothing else to say, because michaela has caused you to place your foot promptly into your mouths. i think it is odd that so many people are quick to judge others, and yet so angry to be judged by others. my sister is a teen mother...and she is a better mom than most moms of any age. i just believe that people should really think about what they're saying before they start spewing hate in any and all directions.

dude, you have alot to say. but if everyone thought everything out like you, all we would do is argue. everyone would have that it itch to prove another wrong, so much as to to take (as well thought out an put together that was) atleast an hour or two out of their time to fight it out and force their opinion onto another, everyone would be so egotistical to find time for the ones they love. good job on the 1000 word essay, but how many lives did you change? besides those in your life you neglect, to force your well constructed and thought opinion on complete strangers. i could be wrong, you could have no loved ones, or you could copy and paste that from someone else who has no life, or you could be a genius and whip that up in two minutes. but what did you prove? how did your 10000 word essay change the world? it didnt. tell that person or persons in your life that you love them, and have a nice day :)

About 30 minutes actually, and no I don't copy and paste. lol. Did I change the world? did I change any lives? Well at least two people commented favourably :) But I hear you say "they already agreed, that doesn't count"
But of course this really isn't the point is it? You question why I should say anything at all - you call it forcing my opinions on others, I'll accept that as long as you accept that that is what everyone else including yourself is doing *grin*
I'd rather think though, that it is merely being more thoughtful and considered in what I have to say - nothing worse than an ill informed opinion after all - unless it's silence.
And there to me lies the heart of the matter; I could quote you an old adage "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." but seeing from the topic you started you are fond of quoting Otep to justify your opinions we'll use her words instead:

Defy the lies
Of the tyrant race
With a fist in the air
& a finger in their face!

DEFY THE TYRANTS!
DON'T BE SILENT!

And really, your assumption that the time it takes to reply to something like this is going to leave loved ones neglected, well it's a bit glib - sounds good & surely I do know people who seem to live on their computers, but not all do. *grin* I assure you there is lots of love around here lmao ... getting on the computer occasionally is a well earned rest :)
