Otep, can you delete rbz? Seriously. He's talking crap about you and all your fans. I wish McCain had gotten elected, so he couldn't afford his internet anymore!

I always liked being able to vote. In fact I remember when I first turned 18.... I was ecstatic to have some kind of power and influence just by voting. It made me feel like I mattered and had a voice that would be heard.
Up here in Canada voting is soooo hard. We have 4 parties to chose from as we also have people who run for government on an independent level. All the political parties care and advocate for solutions to issues that are very important to me. The only thing I don't like about voting is having so many good politicians to pick through. In the last federal election (nearly 4 years ago) I picked the party that was going to provide the funding for my friend to not die at too young of an age from her hereditary illness. But but this election I knew far more about the issues that are important and relevant not only for my friends but for the rest of the world and for the poorest regions in Canada. In America addressing the issues of the children who live in poverty is a black issue. A majority of Canada is not quite like America. In Canada many people who live in poverty are white as well, but we are lucky because we have white privilege. That means that the racism that occurs works in white people's favors and against those of color which is obviously unfair. All I know is that if racism encouraged discrimination or biasing against my race I would be scared about what my future would hold.
I think the elections are over everywhere, but if they are not you have to think about more than just profits when you vote. profits from some industries are worthwhile and others are not. In Canada one of our main parties is giving a $500 reimbursement every year for parents who have their children taking extracurricular lessons in the arts. Which is a great idea because not only do children involved in the arts get an extra boost for their self esteem it can also help to prevent crime among youth. That being said I have no idea what this will do to the economy but since it is a form of theft prevention and can lower the costs of prisons in a round about way it might be feasible in some way as far as not putting Canada into debt goes.
I don't know... does anyone else have any socially just suggestions or insight into how to be a more informed voter and offer a type of empowerment that will encourage people to vote in a more adequate fashion. I mean I do want the world to be a better place I just need to make sure that I won't be voting any region or area into debt or that my voting for a leader will increase youth, child and adult homelessness.
Gotta love voting... But sometimes I wonder if the public is as informed of the issues and plans as we need to be in order to effectively solve the countries problems..

I voted Obama. Little does it matter in Texas. :(
