Do you have any solutions...
For me the is... I don't know... Perhaps destruct the world and rebuild an another... More stronger and better... Reborn like a phoenix...
Although good in concept, and actually seen in nature, (as in a forest fire) I believe self inflicted destruction is not the answer. First off this would initially lead to a state of Anarchy. Although in a very few places I have been, people would band together and do the "right thing" for each other, most of what I can see happening is that the strongest, (AKA those who are willing to enforce their opinions with violence) will be in power. This would not lead to progress.
What we need, is a more educated, patient and enlightened society. In some places, this has started happening more then in others, however globally, it's a far cry from reality.
So I pose the question, do you attempt to enforce morality? Or rather would it be better to attempt to educate and persuade all aspects of mankind that being good to one another is in their ultimate best interests.
Another question. Is socialism such a bad thing. Is there a reason that some people deserve to live with absolute wealth, while others have to watch their children starve.
If this is to be adjusted, how do you go about changing things. Can you justify taking away hard earned rewards from someone, just so that someone else can live in equal comfort?
Capitalism... Evil? Socialism... The answer? Anarchy... Controlled Chaos?
Are there any good answers?
I don't really claim to have answers... I have ideas...
However, in order to really achieve global equality, the average American status quo would have to be lowered substantially in order for it to be globally sustainable. Is that a sacrifice any american you know would be willing to make? I don't really know that I would.
Here's a start though. Pass a law, making it mandatory for power companies to purchase any power produced at 75% of current market value provided it was produced with a renewable recourse such as solar or wind. This would encourage capital investors to create wind and sun farms on a massive scale, as it would finally be profitable to do so.
The cost of 30 Megawatt wind generators in a high wind area is finally comparable if not better then the cost of producing the same energy using coal. New breakthroughs in solar technology have finally made it economical (especially in area's with little cloud cover like Palm Springs).
Once the initial expenditure is compensated from building these locations, the profit compared to maintenance is extremely high. This is the reason the coal industry is buying lobbyist to persuade your elected representatives in increasing numbers.
Maybe outlawing lobbyist, or at least making it so it's no longer a tax deduction to bribe a congressman is where we need to start.
Of course, what do I really know, I am just a high school drop out!
